Job Overview
This is a senior executive level opening with a northern utility firm. As the Vice President of Operations & Engineering you’ll be in the #2 role in the corporation reporting directly to the President. The incumbent will be offered the opportunity for a defined succession into presidency making this an excellent career move for a forward thinking manager in the electrical utility sector.
You will oversee the development and monitoring of corporate engineering guidelines & standards for construction, maintenance, operations, generation and transmission. Acting as a direct liaison between engineering services and operations you will maintain a balanced approach to maintenance, generation and transmission.
As interest in Arctic resources increases, this role will be responsible for improving the capacity of service to the territory as a whole. Because of the pending boom through Northern Canada, this is an excellent time to make a significant impact in the organization and in contrast to larger utility corporations, in this role you will find much less bureaucracy as well as a broader scope of work.
Job Requirements
A university degree in engineering, business administration or another related discipline is required for this position. The ideal candidate with bring Professional Engineering affiliation with a provincial/territorial board.
Exposure to multi-disciplinary environments which has developed you skillset in science, engineering and management.
A strong knowledge of the business & technical aspects of the electrical utility sector.
High level of understanding of current engineering principles & trends in the electric utility industry.
Ability to direct multidisciplinary department activities while working with the executive team to achieve departmental/corporate objectives.
Demonstrated sensitivity to the political, legal, safety and environmental concerns faced by an electrical utility.
